Heather Hilton-Johnson, LM, CPM, Doula
I have known for many years that pregnancy and birth were something that I wanted to be a part of. As a young girl I dreamed of becoming a labor and delivery nurse. As I went on to have my own children I realized that what I wanted was something much more.
It was in 2002 that I learned about home birth. One of my girl friends was planning a natural birth with a Midwife at home. I have always had an innate trust of nature and the human body, and this just seemed so right. Home birth makes sense!
The more I learned about natural childbirth the more passionate I became.
Newly pregnant with my second child, I decided that it was time to start following my heart. I hired a Midwife and planned my home birth. I also went on to become a Birth Doula and began supporting women and their families through out their labor and births. I had finally found my passion, and had a new goal in life; to become a Midwife!
In 2009 I enrolled in the Midwifery College of Utah and started my formal Midwifery apprenticeship. I have been attending and assisting births ever since. My training has allowed me to work with many different midwives, in many different settings. In the spring of 2012 I had the honor of traveling to Haiti to volunteer at a high volume Birth Center. In 2013 I became a NARM certified Midwife and California Licensed Midwife. I have been working at PachaMama Midwifery serving the HomeBirth community of Napa and surrounding areas since 2011.
In addition to being a Licensed Home Birth Midwife, Birth Doula, and Childbirth Educator, I also offer breastfeeding assistance and placenta encapsulation services.
