Jennifer holds a BA in Psychology and Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. She is an individual and couples therapist, who works with relationship and sexuality issues, parenting challenges and healing from trauma.
“I started practicing in 2000 and spent most of the first decade working in hospitals, assessing and responding to a variety of issues including devastating diagnoses, traumatic death, chronic health conditions, end of life decisions, pregnancy loss, postpartum depression, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault and mental health crises. During this time, I taught graduate courses for my alma mater.
In 2009, I shifted to therapist lead of an integrated behavioral healthcare network planning committee, but this project was cut short when an opportunity to serve the US Air Force led me to England. For two years, I worked with military families on topics such as stress and anger management, PTSD, resilience, healthy coupling, parenting and violence prevention, while facilitating support groups on chronic medical conditions, supporting families before and after deployments and veterans transitioning to civilian life.
In 2012, I moved to Chile. Attached to a military husband who was attached to the Embassy during this time, I was only permitted to volunteer, so I wrote travel blogs for Embassy families and added to my clinical training in couples' counseling (Gottman) and mindfulness coaching.
In 2014, I moved to Napa, became a parent and started a private practice, adding services that would address reproductive mental health and co-founding a nonprofit serving parents and families from expectancy through the first two years of their parenthood journey that focused on trauma-informed care and peer support.
Through this work, I became interested in couples therapy and relationship dynamics.
Always seeking, my newest training is in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I remain current on research and active in the professional dialogue of wellness, balancing my time between counseling, coaching, volunteering and parenting. I look forward to meeting you."
